How to Prepare Yoruba Tuwo (using Corn Flour)


Please, see below for the Ingredients and Recipe (Directions or Instructions) on how to Prepare Yoruba Tuwo for Two People:

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups (30cl in volume) of Corn Flour (Ground Coarse Maize)

  • 4 Cups of water to cook and to make a thin smooth solution of Corn Flour

  • 1 Table Spoonful of Kaun Powder (Cooking Powder Potash)

  • 1 Teaspoonful of Iodized Salt to taste (Salt that has been fortified with an essential trace mineral known as Iodine)

Recipe:

  • Wash your Hands Clean with any good Hygienic Kitchen Detergent of your choice

  • Turn ½ Cup of Corn Flour into a Bowl; add teaspoonful of iodized salt; and add 1 Cup of Water using the hand to stir until it forms a thin smooth solution

  • Put 2 ½ Cups of water into a medium pot, and set on a medium heat to boil

  • Add a Table Spoonful of Kaun Powder (Cooking Powder Potash) to the boiled water

  • Add the mixture of Corn Flour and Water to the boiled water on a slow heat

  • Add the remaining Corn Flour and stir continuously until it becomes thick

  • Add the remaining ½ Cup of water, cover the pot and allow to heat for 10minutes

  • Stir thoroughly until the Tuwo is smooth and soft

  • Tuwo is ready to be served - please, do serve HOT!!!
